Artists may apply by 30 June 2026 for the year 2027
Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, 17 April 2026: Artists working in the fields of visual arts, literature, music and composition are once again warmly invited to apply for a three-month residency at the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel Artists’ and Scholarship House in 2027. The historic half-timbered house in the heart of the Hanseatic city offers ideal working and living conditions in a peaceful, inspiring environment and fosters artistic development.
The call for applications is aimed at professionally active, particularly talented artists, primarily younger talents who have already gained public recognition and wish to further their artistic development. Students are excluded from applying.
Applications from artists based in Saxony-Anhalt are expressly encouraged, though not a requirement. Funding may be awarded to other artists if their outstanding artistic work is of particular interest to the state or if a connection to Saxony-Anhalt can be established.
Residencies are funded with a monthly grant of €1,500, provided by the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. The only additional costs are for telephone and internet connections. Residents are required to remain in residence throughout the duration of the stay.
The grants are open to applicants in 2027 for the following months:
- for the visual arts: January – March and July – September
- for the field of music: April – June
- for the field of literature: October – December
The deadline for applications for a scholarship in 2027 is 30 June 2026.
